Super Bowl XLIX Preview: Patriots FTW, duh!

Oh come on. You all know I am a MASSIVE Patriots fan. Not only did I cover them for Scout’s Patriots Insider, I was also once MyPatsFans’ Patriots Fan of the Week. I was pretty proud of this accomplishment. It got me a sweet “Kiss Me, I’m a Pats Fan” shirt. Awesome right?

197383_4271707158_2351_n Needless to say, it’s been a pretty awesome/frustrating few years as a Patriots fan. We’ve had our ups, “Yay we made it to the Super Bowl!” and downs, “Oh crap, we lost to the Giants. TWICE.” But that was the past and now, we are less than two days away from ANOTHER Patriots appearance in the Super Bowl. W00t.

Now it’s time for the predictions:

The New England Patriots vs. The Seattle Seahawks

Final Score: Patriots over Seahawks 27-21 (Ryan thinks it’ll be a much higher scoring game and that it might even go into overtime, which would be awesome except I have to go to work on Monday).

Here’s my rationale…of course, comparing this game and the Patriots to the Die Hard series:

If this game was part of the Die Hard series it would be “Die Hard With a Vengeance” and the Patriots would be John McClane

You know what sucks worse than not making it to the Super Bowl? Making it to the Super Bowl TWICE and losing to the same team TWICE. If there’s a team that’s been itching to go back to the big game and win it, it’s the Patriots with Tom Brady leading the way. This team has the right balance of veteran talent, scrappy former-underdogs, and of course newbies with something to prove.

The Patriots, like John, ALWAYS FIND A WAY

  • No Wes Welker? No Problem – we got ourselves a Julien Edleman and he’s been waiting for a shot to be one of the top targets for Tom Brady for YEARS.
  • Iffy running game? Let’s bring in some determined veterans and undrafted free agents to give it some variety.
  • Pass rush is inconsistent? Welcome to Revis Island!
  • You think Tom Brady is old and should retire? SHUT YOUR MOUTH.

No matter what a team brought to a game this season against them, the Patriots always found a way outsmart the other team on every aspect of the game. Whether it’s with Tom Brady passing the ball 50+ times or Blount rushing for 150+ yards. The Patriots have mastered making adjustments at the right part of the game and for every situation.

This is not the Patriots’ first rodeo

I know, I know, this is the Seahawks second trip to the Super Bowl but that does not make them experts at handling this game. Defeating the Denver Broncos 43-8 in last year’s game was not exactly a competition and was more of an embarrassment for the Broncos. The Patriots, on the other hand, have been prepping for this game ever since they lost in 2012. This team is pumped and ready to take down ANYONE that stands in their way and the last obstacle comes in the form of the Seattle Seahawks.

Will it be easy for the Pats? Doubt it. Russell Wilson was the top rushing quarterback this year with 849 rushing yards! Tom Brady? A hard-earned 57 rushing yards. Adorable.

Guess you can’t lead the League in everything…

Well there you have it, folks. My attempt at making this Super Bowl preview a little different than the millions you may have already read.

It’s Patriots all the way!

Here’s a little something you have to check out from Jimmy Kimmel. This made me laugh cry this morning…gotta love those accents:
