So many sports, so little time.

In the last few weeks, we’ve had the Super Bowl and now we’re knee deep in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. And of course, it’s been the busiest two weeks at work since I started a few months ago (in case you’re interested, here are some work-related things: Gizmodo and Popular Mechanics).

Needless to say, it’s been CRAZY.

While I could spend countless posts with very intricate breakdowns of what I thought of the Super Bowl commercials and the mess that was the game, I’ll do my best to keep this short and sweet.

Now for the game. Yikes. It was bad. Like Michael Jackson bad, pretty sure I’ve used that phrase more than a few times in my blog but this game was definition of bad…at least for the Denver Broncos. Don’t get me wrong, the Seattle Seahawks were absolutely unreal. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a defense so dominant in the biggest game of the year. What’s even scarier is that the Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos were THE offense to beat this season and the Seahawks made them look like a JV squad. Actually, more like the freshman B team.

It’s hard to say where the breaking point was for the Broncos but I think it’s safe to say that the safety on the first snap of the game didn’t help. While, I knew what kind of defense Seattle had coming into the game, the level they took it to was not something anyone could’ve predicted. Seattle’s defense was balanced, relentless and Russell Wilson quietly was flawless.

The score of 43-8 tells a very clear story but even with a massive loss, Peyton Manning and Demariyus Thomas were still able to set some records:

  • Most completions in a Super Bowl game: 34 for Peyton Manning
  • Most catches in a Super Bowl game: 14 for DeMariyus Thomas

In the end, the Broncos were overwhelmed and the Seahawks were unstoppable.

My favorite commercial RadioShack‘s awesome tribute to the 80’s:

Why it was awesome:

  • They poked fun at themselves with just how outdated and old all of their stores felt
  • My brain couldn’t even handle all of the 80’s references! Chucky? Hulk Hogan? ALF!?
  • They could’ve easily shown  cute puppies but they didn’t and that’s awesome.

RadioShack also did something that I stumbled upon after searching for the commercial online (obviously I wanted to re-watch to see if I could name all of the 80’s references – here they are, btw). In lieu of their awesome commercial, RadioShack was also running a contest on twitter to give a away some seriously epic 80’s items and all people had to do was follow them on twitter and tweet out a hashtag associated with the item they wanted. Some of the items that they were giving out included a Hulkamania bandana and an original Star Wars Ewok Village play set.

Anytime a commercial wants to give me the Ewok play set of my dream, I’m a fan.

Gah. I freakin’ love the Olympics.

I was lucky enough to attend the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. It was also one of the first times I blogged. You can check out my entire experience at my Golden Experience blog. It was seriously a miracle that I even had access to the internet back then in China and of course when I did get access, I blogged my heart out.

From the looks of the hashtag #SochiProblems, accommodations in Russia are less than stellar. Incomplete rooms? Scary murky water? Yikes. Don’t get me wrong, things in China were not perfect but honestly, it made the trip so much more memorable.

So here’s to the Winter Games!

Here’s to obnoxious outfits during the Opening Ceremonies!

Here’s to the random people who were dancing on the sidelines! Seriously though, who were these people and how did they lockdown the freestyle dance gig AT THE OLYMPICS?! It’s not like they were dancing in unison or following any sort of choreography, they were straight up dancing their feelings and doing their own thing.

When the camera would show these guys, this is all I could think of:

So many feelings…Freaking love, Bob’s Burgers, BTW.

Go America!
