Never give up, never surrender…especially during football season

For some reason, I thought “Never give up, never surrender” came from some epic Mel Gibson historical flick.

Nope, it’s from the movie Galaxy Quest starring Tim Allen post-Home Improvement.

So after a few months’ writing hiatus, I’ve come to the startling conclusion that I’m too busy for my own good and it sucks.

While I could sit here and blame “being an adult” and having a “grown-up job” as reasons for why I’ve neglected my passion for more than half of my lifetime, that’s not really the case at all. I’ve just become a slacker of a writer and I’m sorry.

I’ve successfully convinced myself that I’m too busy to do anything other than to get up in the morning, go to work, eat food and sleep. To be honest, there are 24 hours in a day and I really only sleep for about six of those hours so it’s time for me to suck it up and what better time to do it than at the start of a new season.

This is about the time people around me get tired of my ridiculous Patriots predictions and reminiscing about that one underdog that the Pats should’ve kept (Ross Ventrone, you’re still my boy). I’m pumped and ready to get back into my football season groove.

To be honest, there is nothing that compares to interacting with everyone on Twitter during Patriots games. From the general complaints of announcers’ inability to pronounce players’ names (The Hoo man? Really? You’re not even trying anymore) to shared nervousness when the lead depends on the leg of Stephen Gostkowski, it’s a pretty awesome way to watch the game.

If you’re not following me already, do it here.

So here’s to my fantasty football team Horton Hears a Hoomanawanui kicking butt and the Patriots winning another Super Bowl.
